Who We Are

WellSpot is an iPad application that helps laboratory users place samples in the correct positions on 96- and 384-well plates.

Well-File Content

WellSpot reads well-definition files selected by the user. These files may contain sample identifiers and plate coordinates.

WellSpot processes well-file content locally on the device. WellSpot does not upload well-file content to us, RevenueCat, or any analytics service.

The loaded layout remains in the app's current session until it is cleared or the app is terminated. The original file remains wherever the user stored it, such as Files, iCloud Drive, Dropbox, or another document provider.

Files stored on the device or in a cloud document provider may be included in backups according to the user's device, backup, and document-provider settings.

Purchases and Upgrade Access

WellSpot uses Apple In-App Purchase and RevenueCat to provide and restore the one-time 384-well upgrade.

When WellSpot checks whether the upgrade is active, including when the app starts, RevenueCat receives an anonymous app identifier and any associated purchase and entitlement history. We do not associate this identifier with a name, email address, or WellSpot account.

This information is used to:

  • Determine whether the 384-well upgrade is active.
  • Provide and restore purchased access.
  • Validate purchases and help prevent fraud.
  • Understand purchase performance through RevenueCat's purchase analytics.

Apple processes the transaction and payment information required to complete an in-app purchase. WellSpot and RevenueCat do not receive the user's complete payment-card details.

Advertising and Tracking

WellSpot does not display advertising.

WellSpot does not use well-file content, purchase history, or identifiers to track users across apps or websites for advertising purposes.

WellSpot does not use the advertising identifier.

Data Retention and Deletion

WellSpot does not require or create a user account.

Loaded well-file content can be removed from the current app session using Clear Data. Users can delete the original file from the Files app or the document provider where it is stored.

Apple and RevenueCat may retain purchase records as required to provide purchase restoration, prevent fraud, meet legal obligations, and operate their services. Their retention and deletion practices are described in their respective privacy policies.

To stop future requests from the WellSpot app, the user may uninstall the app. Purchase records may continue to be retained by Apple or RevenueCat.
